On 19 September Carlos Idun-Tawiah opens his studio at Studio Voltaire in London and shows the work he has made during his three-month residency.
At its centre is Where Did Everyone Go?, a new short film still in progress. It belongs to a body of work about life without community: how loneliness, memory, absence and time change the way we remember, connect and belong. In the stills, a young athlete holds a trophy in an empty stadium.
At 2 pm Carlos is in conversation with Chantel Akworkwor Thompson about his practice and the residency. During these months he has been working on how a photograph can leave the paper and become an installation, an object, a space.
Producer: Terry Debrah. Director of photography: Kobe Nickson-Debrah. Featuring Emmanuel Wilberforce and Joel Nkansah Gyamera.
The residency is supported by the Philanthropic Consortium, an initiative by Omenaa Mensah. Studio Voltaire, 1A Nelsons Row, London SW4 7JR.
